Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
is an evidence-based internationally renowned psychotherapy originally developed by Marsha Linehan, Ph.D., at the University of Washington for the treatment of suicidal thoughts, self-harming behaviors and borderline personality traits/disorder. Subsequent research has shown DBT to be an effective treatment modality for individuals with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, relationship struggles and overall difficulties in managing intense emotions.
DBT is classically done in small weekly skills training groups paired with individual therapy sessions.
We offer several invaluable modules of DBT skills training:
- Mindfulness
- Basic Emotion Regulation
- Advanced Emotion Regulation
- Interpersonal Effectiveness and Relationship Skills
- Distress Tolerance
Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
....is a skills-based therapeutic approach addressing maladaptive, self-defeating thinking patterns and replacing them with healthier, more adaptive thoughts. Cognitive Behavior Therapy is also taught in our DBT skills groups.
